FranetiC - A Brief History of Trance 1 - ARCHIVE from November 2011 [ Classic Trance | Anthems ]

Hey guys - since the move to Podbean a few of my most popular mixes have dropped off iTunes - so at a request I am uploading this episode from my series Brief History of Trance (Only two of them!), the first ever one I did back in 2011. It was my most popular episode ever getting nearly a million downloads on Podomatic. It features some of my all time favourite classics mixed chronologically from 1993 to 2011.

Of course Trance goes back to the Acid House era in its earliest forms, being heard from about the mid eighties. But the sound really came to fruition in my opinion when Paul Van Dyk released his remix of Humate - Love Stimulation in 1993, definitely the pioneer of the current sound, bringing the european sound completely to the forefront of the trance scene. I have recorded a mix in complete chronological order, with one track selected from each year since 1993 up to the present day. All my own personal preferences and aren't necessarily actual number one tracks from each year, although most of course are recognised and were hits in the scene in various forms over the years. And the cover of course drawing a little inspiration from Stephen Hawkings book, a Brief History of Time.....

FranetiC - A Brief History of Trance 2 - Episode 118

A History of Trance returns with the second instalment - 2011 was the last edition, journeying from 1993 to 2011. This new episode is a bit of a monster - prepare for some commitment for the next 2.5 hours! This mix takes you on a chronological journey year on year from 1991 to 2015; a track for each year except 2000 where I honestly couldn't pick the two so just smashed them both in- so its a double whammy on the year 2000 - what the hell, it was one of the best years for Trance. 26 stompers in total for you to wrap your lobes around....The same as last time the tracks are all my own personal preferences and aren't necessarily actual number one tracks from each year, although most of course are recognised and were hits in the scene in various forms over the years. Back to the Old Skool! Time to journey back to the 90's with this almighty guest mix.
This has been in the pipeline for a wee while, from the legend that is DJ Smoothound. From first seeing him play in Monastery when I was a a young spring chicken back in 1999, he was one of the inspirations which made me want to become a DJ.
No tracklist I am afraid - purely vinyl from back in the day, much of it white label.
